2006 Dr. Padmanabhan on
Sabbatical in Dr. Padmanabhan,
during his six months (Aug. 2004 – Feb. 2005) of sabbatical in Memoranda of Understanding With Recently, again he was in Bangkok, Thailand, in January 10-12, 2006 for participating in an International Conference “Hazardous Waste Management for a Sustainable Future.” Dr. Padmanabhan served as an invited member of the Conference Scientific Committee. He also chaired a session, and presented a paper. During the Conference, a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) was signed between Chulalongkorn University and North Dakota State University for collaboration in research and graduate programs. Dr. Eakalak Khan and Dr. Padmanabhan played significant roles in facilitating efforts that culminated in signing of the MOU. With the Center for Water Resources, Dr. Padmanabhan also played a
significant role in developing an MOU between the Center for Water Resources,
Anna University, Chennai, India and North Dakota State University. The MOU
has been signed paving the way for collaborative research between the two
institutions. 2005 Congratulations

1st prize in the nation wide chapter challenge competetion
on 'Sustainability in Materials Science
and Engineering' conducted by Materials Reserach
Society Headquarter (www.mrs.org) Congratulations
to ASCE, NDSU Chapter for winning 1st place in
ASCE Mid-West Regional conference and 4th place in the National Steel Bridge Competetion. Congratulations
to Dr. Eakalak Khan
on getting the CAREER award from National Science Foundation Dr.
Eakalak Khan, Assistant Professor,
department of Civil Engineering and Construction has been awarded the
prestigious CAREER award from the National Science Foundation Civil and
Mechanical Systems Division. The five year $400,000 grant is for the project
entitled “CAREER: Integrated Interdisciplinary
Nanotechnology Research and Education on Fundamentals and Applications of
Cell Entrapment for Water Pollution Control.” “The Faculty Early Career Development (CAREER) Program is a Foundation-wide activity that offers the National Science Foundation’s most prestigious awards for new faculty members. The CAREER program recognizes and supports the early career-development activities of those teacher-scholars who are most likely to become the academic leaders of the 21st century. ” NSF
